Important information regarding your training at the JAARS campus. Pleasereview the information below.
Transportation: The JAARS campus is located approximately 1 - 1.5 hours from the Charlotte-Douglas (CLT) International Airport. Please arrange to either rent a car from the local rental agencies located on the airport grounds or contact the JAARS Transportation Shuttle to be picked up and dropped off. Approximate expense of the Shuttle is $37 each way. Please contact them via email at charlotte_shuttle_Jaars@sil.org
Accommodations/Housing: The JAARS campus has on-site housing available at very affordable rates. Please make your reservations directly with their housing department. Click on the link to review their policies and practices to make your stay as easy as possible. There are hotels in the vicinity if you choose to stay at a hotel. However, traffic may mean a 15-30 minute drive each way in the morning/evening. Click here Contact them at housing_jaars@sil.org or (704) 843-6020.
Area Information: www.visitwaxhaw.com and www.waxhaw.com have a lot of useful information about the area.

Food/meals: All the housing on the JAARS campus either have a kitchenette or a communal kitchen depending on where you are housed. Lunches are usually eaten in the JAARS cafeteria with your classmates and instructors. The cafeteria is very reasonably priced. For breakfast and dinner you are on your own. You may want to stop by a market and purchase food for those meals, or arrange to eat dinner in town at one of the restaurants there. If you have taken the JAARS shuttle to the campus, we (CCI) will generally make a grocery run with you the evening before the seminar begins.
Recommendation: CCI strongly recommends that you arrive at JAARS the day prior to the seminar and leave the day following the seminar. Departing early deprives you and your colleagues of the full benefit of the training provided. In addition, you will not be stressed out having to check out early, trying to make a flight and dealing with the local traffic - which can be very heavy at times. The seminars begin at 8:00 AM and end 5:00 PM each day.
